Chairman of the Association

Vladimir Kovalev

Lawyer and mediator, specialising in civil and commercial litigation. In 2015 he founded the Kovalev & Partners law firm and leads it as managing partner: corporate disputes and transactions, insolvency and subsidiary liability, tax disputes, digital law. Since 2019 the firm works alongside the attorneys of the Kovalev, Malyutov, Tsypkalo & Partners Bar Association. Offices in Moscow and Mariupol, cases across Russia.

Since 2024 — chairman of the board of directors and vice president for development of Bank Yoshkar-Ola. Since 2025 — founder and chairman of the Wings of a Dream charitable foundation. Organiser and moderator of republic-level business forums in Mari El: the tax forums of 2025 and 2026, the forum on working AI solutions (2025) and the round table “Foreign Trade with the Whole World” (2024). Among the firm’s matters under his leadership: support of X5 Group’s acquisition of the Amba supermarket chain, a RUB 93.5 million tax assessment overturned after a field audit, claims worth RUB 3 billion against companies of the Sibantracit group, defence against subsidiary liability, and legalising crypto mining on self-generated power. Education: studied at the Faculty of Geography of Lomonosov Moscow State University (Department of Economic Geography); law degree (2015); the unified training programme for insolvency practitioners at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics (2020); professional retraining in mediation, state and municipal administration, enterprise economics and business valuation. In 2025 he completed postgraduate studies in law; his research topic is the digitalisation of justice.

Works at the intersection of criminal and commercial law: defence on economic charges, support during searches and interviews, commercial disputes and insolvency, protection of directors from subsidiary liability. Kristina Tsypkalo

In the profession since 2011, an attorney since 2019. Over ten years in the courts, including as a judge’s assistant. Civil, commercial and corporate disputes, real estate, insolvency.

In 2011 graduated from the Odessa National Law Academy (jurisprudence); in 2017 completed a master’s degree at the Crimean Law Institute of the Academy of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation. Spent more than ten years in the courts of general jurisdiction and the commercial courts of first and appellate instance, including as a judge’s assistant, and knows the process from the bench’s side. An attorney since 2019; as a partner of the bar association she is responsible for civil and commercial practice: disputes of private clients, corporate conflicts, real estate transactions, legal support of business, insolvency cases. More than 17 years of legal practice. Corporate and personal insolvency, crisis management, support of particularly complex litigation.

An expert in insolvency and crisis management and a licensed insolvency practitioner. More than 17 years of legal practice, including work in major infrastructure and energy companies and leadership of complex legal projects. Partner at Kovalev & Partners for insolvency matters. Specialisation: insolvency proceedings of companies and individuals, challenging debtors’ transactions, building and defending creditors’ positions, debt recovery, comprehensive legal strategies. Combines analysis of debtors’ financial and business activity with case law and the procedural tools available to participants in insolvency proceedings.
